CANL Meeting Details & Guidelines

We have Community Guidelines that set the rules of the road for how to behave for healthy discourse, which apply to all members, volunteers, guests and content, and define what one can and cannot do when at Climate Action Newfoundland & Labrador.

During meetings, we cooperate on initiatives to raise awareness about climate change and build unity for taking action. Come discuss the latest news, and share your ideas and ambition for working with like-minded people to implement solutions.

In short, our goal is to host interesting conversations with caring, respectful and honest people while taking action together to fight climate change, and we believe a set of guidelines will help facilitate this.

NL Climate Leadership Program

The NL Climate Leadership Program aims to support people taking action to be climate change leaders for Newfoundland & Labrador, and the planet.

It centers Indigenous and Western knowledge and systems in the context of local uniqueness and situations specific to NL, and supports people with development of regionally relevant and effective climate strategies and solutions. The program also aims to build a network of climate change leaders for sharing knowledge and working together on safeguarding nature and communities from climate change.

[ ✔ ] – Upon completion of this training, you will be able to:

  • Explain the basics of climate science and climate change
  • Understand different perspectives on climate change and climate action
  • Make connections between climate change and the health of NL communities, people and nature
  • Demonstrate the impacts of human economic activity on Mother Earth
  • Articulate the impacts that climate change is having on life on Mother Earth
  • Identify root causes of climate change while demonstrating the integral role Indigenous resilience has in Mother Earth’s survival
  • Familiarize and inspire people and communities with climate solutions, projects and success stories from local, national, international communities
  • Raise community proficiency in mainstream climate science and action
